I just have to say well done to the US!

I feel excited by the news that the US has now legalized same sex marriage. I feel like all around the world human kind is breaking barriers and I just cannot wait for Australia to join the change.

Of course amongst it all there has been negativity in the form of some very colourful (non rainbow) opinions and I just can’t help but get a bit suckered into defending myself and the rights of so many.

STOPPPPPP LAYNE! Okay I can feel myself getting passionate about this topic and if I get that ball rolling I just don’t know how far I’ll go and I just really don’t want to play into the negativity. Let’s celebrate what achievements have been made and look forward to the many more that in time will come, that’s right change is inevitable especially in the society we live in today. Today people are different, I think that people are getting tired of hiding who they are, tired of explaining, defending and apologizing for something that just shouldn't be an issue. I mean perspective people, is who someone chooses to marry really that god damn important that we need to spend so much time and effort on when we could be focusing on much more frightening things. Look around, are gay people tearing apart our universe? I mean yeah I rock the world with my girl but I guarantee I’m not causing any long term damage haha sorry brag moment, yep that’s me a cocky little shit. Anyhoooo…

I did read an article that put it so perfectly in a letter to the Australian Prime Minister. They explained that no one person should be ruling the country based on their own views and beliefs but for those of the people. Australia isn’t in a country where we are ruled by a dictator so why are our lives and rights being dictated to us? On one hand our government tells us that same sex relationships are wrong and that we don’t deserve the basic human right to marry the person we love. And then on the other hand our government wants to recognize our relationships when it means saving them money. I just don’t get it. I really struggle to see how someone can be so strong in their apparent beliefs but the moment there will be a financial gain they’re flexible. At least be consistent.

And there you have it, the ball got rolling…

Cao for now!
